A unique television experience
Featuring British journalist BARBRA PASKIN
Are you one of those many Americans who yearns to recreate the dazzling dinner you enjoyed the night before at a 3-star restaurant?
Wish no longer. Your day has arrived.
For the first time on American television comes a food programme that will introduce you to the fabulous art of presentation. Where nothing is out of bounds except the limits of your own imagination. A successful presentation combines innovative design with the right balance of colour and shape. And now you can learn how to make your everyday dishes reign supreme.
So you’ve cooked up something which will taste delicious? Barbra Paskin’s A Feast For The Eyese \ will show you how to elevate it into a stunning work of art.
She’ll show you how to transform ordinary meals into spectacular visions. Turn desserts into sinfully luscious seductions. And put your creative talent into overdrive.
Barbra’s passion was inspired by her love for Cuisine Vivante, a culinary movement that grew out of the ‘new style’ cuisine of France in the mid ‘50s. Its aim is to excite both the eye and the palate by presenting food artistically through an array of different colours, shapes and textures. In an elegant presentation, food is raised to a glorious level of visual and gastronomic delight.
Until now, in America this art has mainly been confined to professional chefs and high end restaurants. Because of the ravishing creations, people generally assume it requires extensive culinary expertise and master artistry. And that it is too complicated and time consuming to be produced in a normal kitchen.
A Feast For The Eyes will show how you can achieve the same enchanting visions that have left you salivating when you’ve gone fine dining. Barbra will show how you, too, can produce exquisite results in minimal time and without extravagant work. And you don’t need exotic and rare ingredients to make this happen. She’ll inspire you to raid your fridge and show you how to make something elaborate out of “almost dead” items. And what she can do with moulded shapes will blow your mind. Every kitchen has an abundance of containers (like yoghurt and margarine tubs) that she’ll show you how to transform into fabulous moulds. Even empty soup and tuna cans. Not for nothing was she once dubbed ‘Queen of the Moulds’ by her friends.
You’ll be amazed at the possibilities once you give a little thought and imagination to what you’re designing. Barbra will show how with little effort, selecting a mix of colours and shapes to complement the main item will make any dish look breathtaking.
See how diamond-shaped mango slices in asparagus purée give a stunning embellishment to chicken breast. Raspberry and cream-feathered sauce provides a glamorous backdrop for an orange mousse bombe with caramel-drizzled chocolate triangles. A risotto pyramid with a sweet potato roof adds a stylish setting for herb-crusted lamb chops.
Barbra gives every creation a unique presentation. And not everything is what it seems. “Food is like magic”, she says. Which is why she’ll often present a dish that appears to be one thing but turns out to be something completely different.
At last, the programme you’ve been waiting for. The one that will show you how to turn your next meal into A Feast For The Eyes!
